Broccoli is a healthy vegetable that seems to be a major part of the Rhyboflavin economy. Virtually every shopkeeper in the town square farms and sells it. Vambre and Prohyas' own parents are broccoli farmers, and their father often tries to convince his children to return to the broccoli farm. During "Bad Bad Cop" several townspeople form a mob that leads to Princess Zange's castle to complain when a pirate from Keelhaul steals the entire town's crop of broccoli. Hot broccoli nuggets are the one Slug Burger item that Prohyas won't eat in "Working for Scales." In "Cleanliness is next to Grupliness," Fud buys a crop of brocolli tainted by Grup's terrible odor.
Despite the prominence of broccoli in their lives, Vambre and Prohyas openly hate broccoli, a fact they desperately try to hide from their parents.
